Frequently Asked Questions

What type of drone do you use?

We operate a DJI Matrice 4T enterprise drone equipped with advanced thermal
imaging and a high-resolution camera capable of up to 112x zoom.

How does thermal imaging work?

Thermal imaging detects heat differences between animals and the surrounding environment, allowing detection even when visibility is limited.

When is drone deer recovery most effective?

Drone assisted recovery is most effective when tracking becomes difficult due to limited sign, thick cover, or low visibility. Cooler temperatures improve thermal contrast.

Early season recoveries in September and early October can be more challenging due to leaf cover and warmer ground temperatures.

Are there times when flying is not possible?

Yes. Flights may be delayed or canceled due to:
• Precipitation
• Fog or low visibility
• High winds
• Extreme temperatures reducing thermal contrast
• Airspace or safety restrictions

Do you fly at night?

Night operations are possible when conditions allow and often improve thermal effectiveness.

Can you guarantee a recovery?

No. While technology improves search efficiency, not every mission results in
recovery.

What happens if the deer is found alive?

Observation is stopped. The state of Wisconsin does not allow us to the disclose the hunter the location of a crippled animal.

Are waivers required?

Yes. Waivers are required by Antler Aerial LLC prior to flight for all services.

How quickly should I reach out after a shot?

Every situation is different. We are happy to talk through shot details and timing, even if the right decision is to wait.

How do I get started?

Reach out by call, text, or through the website to discuss your situation.
